Since February 2007, CAPC dedicates a special exhibition program to graphic design. Called Off Set, this program leaded by art critic Etienne Bernard, welcomes two emerging studios or designers a year. Exhibitions are conceived as graphic designed objects in the museum, to visit as reading a book…
A nebula
At the very beginning, Bordeaux art school-based 10 members group LAplakett leaded lots of different projects from graphic design to typography, from visual art to music. Bordeaux’s urban space becomes their experimental stage for various and critical art performances. After leaving art school, each of them continued developing professionnaly his practice by his own. They named themselves Sainte-Machine, GUsto, SMeltery, Le Vilain, Elysee Speer, TT crew, Deephop and Shlag. Some of them stayed in
Bordeaux. Some of them reached Milan, Brussels or Paris. But all keep collaborating with eachother for special projects from time to time.
The exhibition
This Off Set’s second issue will show up the creative of each former members of LAplakett group joined together one more time for a very special experience. Sainte-Machine, label now gathering four of them still established in Bordeaux, is
leading this multimedia project (including silkscreen, drawing, graff, video, photography…) in the museum space.
Sainte-Machine decided to impose its guests a structuring constraint. All of them will have to define their practices by up to 10 key-verbs. To optimize, produce, encode, lie, etc will become pieces of the graphic designed definition of the show drawn into space through each own visual language.
