Concepted as the opening event of the Isola Art Center during the international meeting of design in Milan, the exhibition is about focusing on the link between the artistic practices and the urban context during the construction of the public city. Starting from On the basis of the assumption which there is not a technical solution with the urban problems, but which there exist political, communicative and linguistic solutions, “Art-Chitecture of Change” has for objective to record the transformation not only of the use of space but also in the form of its representation.
Space Isola Art Center has been an attempt at response to the effective deficiencies of projections, in maturation for 5 years, it saw the collaboration of groups of artists, associations of districts, collectives of architects and town planners.
From the greatness of Ancient Rome to the decline of the post-industrialist Milan, from the Corinthian marble columns to the urban concrete bars, from the fascism arrogance, to the working fights, from the decorative refinement to the industrial austerity, the anachronism of the column is an ironic glance on the modern Italian city.
